Privacy Policy
Summary
- There is no account or sign-up. We do not ask for your real name, email, phone number or location.
- The photo you pick in “Create your character” is processed only on your device. It is never uploaded to the internet — not to our servers, not to Firebase, not to anyone.
- The nickname you type and your scores are shown on a public leaderboard. Please do not use your real name.
- The game shows ads (banner and optional rewarded videos). Ad networks may collect a device advertising identifier.
- We do not sell your data.
1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how the mobile game Flappy Rocks (package name com.davidtoledo.gallitorocas; “the app” or “the game”) handles information. The app is developed and published by David Toledo Sánchez, an independent developer based in Lima, Peru (“we”, “us”). By using the app you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
2. Information we handle
2.1 Information you choose to give us
- Nickname (optional). You can set a nickname from the main menu. If you do not, your scores are saved as “Anonymous”. It is free text that you type, so please avoid personal information.
- Game results. When a run ends we save your score, the place (level) where you played and the date and time, together with your nickname. These make up the public leaderboard (see section 4).
- A photo (optional). Only if you use “Create your character” (see section 3).
2.2 Information collected automatically by third-party services
The advertising services and Google Firebase, which the app uses, may process technical information such as your IP address, device and operating-system details and an advertising identifier. See sections 5 and 6.
2.3 Information we do not collect
- Real name, email address, phone number or postal address.
- Your location (precise or approximate). The app does not request location permission.
- Contacts, microphone, camera or storage permissions. The app only declares Internet and network-state access.
- No login and no social-media accounts. We do not use analytics or crash-reporting tools of our own.
2.4 Information stored only on your device
Your settings and progress (nickname, sound on/off, selected place, places you have unlocked, counters used to decide when a rewarded video is offered) and your custom character (a small face image, plus the background and wings you chose). This information stays on your device and is not sent anywhere, except the nickname that accompanies your scores.
3. Your photo and “Create your character”
This feature is optional. It lets you turn a photo of yourself (or anyone you choose) into a flying character.
- How you pick the photo. You choose between your gallery and your camera. The app opens your device’s own photo picker or camera app, so the app does not need camera or storage permission. The app only receives the single image you select or take.
- Everything happens on your device. The photo is cropped, reduced to a small round face image (192 × 192 pixels) and combined with wings, all locally.
- Where it is kept. A reduced temporary copy of the chosen photo is kept in the app’s private cache folder (other apps cannot read it) so it can be cropped. Photos taken through this feature are also written to that private folder, not to your gallery. The final face image is kept in the app’s private storage.
- We do not store your images on the internet. Your photo and your face image are never uploaded, transmitted, sold or shared. They are not sent to our servers, to Firebase, to advertisers or to any other third party, and we cannot see them.
- How to delete them. Creating a new character replaces the previous face image. You can also use “Clear storage / Clear cache” for the app in your device settings, or uninstall the app, and everything is removed.
- The camera and gallery apps you use are provided by your device or by third parties and are governed by their own privacy policies.
4. Public leaderboard
- What is published: your nickname, score, place and date. It is stored in Google Firebase Cloud Firestore.
- Who can see it: the ranking is public — any player can see the top scores with their nicknames. It does not include your photo, your device identifiers or any contact information.
- Please choose a nickname that does not identify you.
- Retention: entries are kept for as long as the leaderboard exists. The app does not let users edit or delete entries, but you can ask us to delete yours (see section 9).
- Changing your nickname only affects future scores; earlier entries keep the old nickname unless you ask us to delete them.
5. Advertising
The app is supported by ads: a banner on some screens and rewarded videos that you may choose to watch (for example to unlock a place, to continue after a Game Over, or to open “Create your character”).
Depending on the version you installed, ads are provided by Google AdMob (Google LLC) or by Huawei Ads Kit / Petal Ads (Huawei, in the version for Huawei devices). These providers may collect and use:
- an advertising identifier (Google Advertising ID, or Huawei Open Advertising ID – OAID);
- IP address and approximate location derived from it;
- device and operating-system information (model, OS version, language, screen size), and app information;
- how you interact with ads (impressions, clicks, video views).
They use this to deliver and measure ads, prevent fraud and, where the law and your settings allow, personalize ads. We do not receive this data; we only see aggregated reports (for example, number of impressions). Ads may lead to websites or stores that we do not control.
Your controls. In your device settings you can reset or delete your advertising ID and opt out of personalized ads (on Google devices, look under Settings › Google › Ads, or Privacy › Ads; on Huawei devices, under Settings › Privacy › Ads — the names of the menus vary by device and system version). Watching rewarded videos is always optional.
6. Third-party services
| Service | Provider | Purpose | Data involved | More information |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Firebase Cloud Firestore | Google LLC | Stores the public leaderboard | Nickname, score, place, date; technical data (such as IP address) processed by Google to deliver the service | Firebase privacy |
| Google AdMob | Google LLC | Ads (standard version) | Advertising ID, IP address, device information, ad interactions | How Google uses data · Google Privacy Policy |
| Huawei Ads Kit (Petal Ads) | Huawei | Ads (Huawei-devices version) | OAID, IP address, device information, ad interactions | Ads Kit and Huawei’s privacy statement |
These providers act under their own terms and privacy policies, which we encourage you to read.
7. How we use information
- To run the game and its features (leaderboard, custom character, unlocking places).
- To keep the leaderboard working and to remove abusive or inappropriate nicknames or entries.
- To show ads that help fund the app.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not build profiles about you.
8. Sharing, retention, security and transfers
- Sharing. Only with the service providers listed above, when required by law, or to protect our rights or the safety of users. The leaderboard is public by design.
- Retention. Data on your device stays until you clear the app’s data or uninstall it. Leaderboard entries stay until they are deleted at your request or the leaderboard is retired.
- Security. Data travels to and from Firebase over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), and the leaderboard has server-side rules that limit what can be written. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.
- International transfers. Google and Huawei may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States, under their own safeguards.
9. Your choices and rights
- Nickname: you can change or clear it at any time from the main menu.
- Photo and character: stored only on your device; delete them as described in section 3.
- Ads: use the device controls in section 5. Rewarded videos are optional.
- Leaderboard deletion: write to us at the email below with your nickname and, if possible, the approximate score, place and date, and we will delete the entries within a reasonable time (normally within 30 days).
- Legal rights. Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR, the California CCPA/CPRA or Peru’s Personal Data Protection Law No. 29733) you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, to withdraw consent, and to lodge a complaint with your data-protection authority. Contact us to exercise them.
10. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 (or the higher minimum age set by the law of your country, such as 16 in parts of the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has published information on the leaderboard, contact us and we will remove it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows the latest version; when the changes are important we will make that clear in the app or in the store listing. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
